Course Objectives
Examining the properties of concrete with material science approaches, introducing its micro-structure, examining the general relationships between micro-structure and its mechanical and durability properties.
Course Description
The course covers; i- Fresh concrete properties, ii- Hardening concrete properties, iii- Hardening mechanisms, iv- Micro-structure of hardened cement paste, v- Interfacial transition zone, vi- Microstructural factors affecting concrete properties, vii- Utilization of nano materials in concrete, viii- Sensitivity of properties to pore structure of concrete, ix- General approaches in the fracture mechanics of concrete, x- Shrinkage, creep and fatigue, xi- Permeability and durability of concrete.
