UUM 556E - Advanced Thermodynamics
Course Objectives
1. To enhance the understanding of thermodynamics principles and their relevance to engineering
problems.
2. To provide the student with experience in applying thermodynamic principles to predict physical
phenomena and to solve engineering problems.
3. To provide understanding in thermodynamic behavior of multi component and multi-phase systems.
Course Description
Fundamental laws of thermodynamics and their application to thermal systems, second-law analysis and the
concept of exergy, state equations of pure substances, thermodynamic property relations, thermodynamic
properties of mixtures, phase equilibrium for mixtures, thermodynamics of chemically reacting systems and
chemical equilibrium, applications to aerospace systems and propulsion.
