TEK 518E - Advanced Topics in Nonwovens
Course Objectives
1. To teach the analysis of structural properties and process parameter interactions of nonwoven webs,
2. To teach the design of product and process parameters with relevance to their end use,
3. To teach the developing fibrillated, perforated film and nanoscale nonwoven technologies,
4. To teach the concept of integrative technologies to produce multi-functional products.
Course Description
Analysis of structural properties and process parameter interactions of nonwoven webs as a basis for nonwoven product design. Raw material properties and process parameter interactions, product characteristics. Developing nonwoven technologies; fibrillated, perforated film nonwovens, micro or nano scale webs obtained via flash spinning, electrospinning and bicomponent fibers. Integrative processes to produce heterogeneous fiberwebs and hybrid structures. Standard test methods of nonwoven fabrics.
